Brian Shaughnessy Art Statement
My biggest influences are Schiele, Goya, Hess and Rubens. Their work captured my attention and has always struck a chord with me … their images had something important to “say”. I didn’t start painting until my late twenties. Over the years I’ve experimented with different themes and mediums. I often feel the evolution of the work is the most rewarding aspect of being a visual artist.
